Pacers Stay Hot, Defeat Penn State Brandywine in Home Opener

Adam Ginsberg smashes his first long ball of the season

Scranton, Pa. -- Marywood University (8-3) stretches its baseball winning streak to seven games for the first time since the 2022 season. Hosting Penn State- Brandywine Tuesday, the Pacers rallied in the seventh, scoring three unanswered runs to win 8-5 in their home opener.

It marks the Pacers' second-longest winning streak in school history.

Adam Ginsberg led the way for the Pacers tallying two hits and three RBIs on the day. 

Brandywine got on the board in the top of the first with a two-run home run out to left field. 

In the bottom of the third, Ginsberg crushed the ball over the fence, scoring Christian Michak

Nick Ruiz hit a single through the five-six hole in the fourth to give the Pacers a 3-2 lead. 

In the fifth, Cameron Kohut reached on an error, plating Max Slusser

Brandywine did not shy away. In the sixth, Ryan Brown scored on a throwing error by the first baseman and Shawn Webb scored on a wild pitch, tying up the ball game, 5-5. 

The Lions jumped ahead in the top of the seventh on an RBI double to give them a one run lead. 

Marywood responded in the bottom of the seventh. Ruiz reached first on a throwing error, letting Slusser score. 

Michak walked with bases loaded plating Tristan Gatchalain. Adam Ginsberg walk followed, giving the Pacers an 8-5 lead. 

Marywood was able to hold the lead with Aiden Dolan recording a clean sheet in the eighth, tallying a strikeout. AJ Jordan got the save, his fourth, striking out one. Jordan is currently ranked second in single-season saves.

Joseph Bruno got the win for the Pacers. He pitched one inning allowing one hit, one earned run, and one walk. Bruno had one strikeout. 

Connor Thompson took the loss for the Nittany Lions. He pitched 2/3 of an inning, surrendering three runs, four walks, and a wild pitch. 

The Pacers will kick off Atlantic East conference play on Friday, hosting Immaculata.
