Pacers Drop Both in Conference Opener

Scranton, Pa. - Marywood University baseball opened up Atlantic East Conference play hosting Immaculata. The Pacers would fall twice to the back-to-back conference champions. The Pacers overall fall to 8-5 (0-2 AEC). The Mighty Macs improve to 11-7 (2-0 AEC).

Game 1: Immaculata 6, Marywood 1

Immaculata got on the board first with an RBI single from Ryan Struble followed by a two RBI double from Jay Lawerence to give the Mighty Macs a 3-0 lead. 

In the fourth, Mighty Macs' Joey Sacco hit a sacrifice fly making it 4-0. 

Marywood's lone run came in the bottom of the fifth inning. With bases loaded, Adam Ginsberg hit into a fielder's choice, scoring AJ Giannetti. 

Immaculata went on to score two more runs in the top of the sixth and held the Pacers to secure the 6-1 victory. 

Nick Notari got the start on the bump, pitching five innings allowing five earned runs, seven hits, three walks, and striking out three. 

Charlie Hamm pitched in relief recording two innings surrendering two hits. 

Jason Hughes got the win for the Mighty Macs pitching five innings allowing three hits, one earned run, and three walks. He struck out three. 

Game 2: Immaculata 5, Marywood 0

The Mighty Macs came out swinging in the first inning.

Joey Wright singled to left field plating one. 

Ryan Struble followed up with a sacrifice fly. 

In the top of the second, Shawn Haut hit a two RBI single up the middle giving Immaculata a 4-0 lead. 

The Mighty Macs plate their fifth run of the game in the eight with a single to center field. 

The Pacers recorded 11 hits against the Mighty Macs. 

Marywood's Tristan Gatchlain went three for four in the effort. Vinny D'Auria, Joe Yannelli, and Giannetti each tallied two hits. 

Stephen DiBattista captured the win for Immaculata. The southpaw allowed eight hits in seven innings of work. 

Max Ryan got the loss for the Pacers falling to 1-1 on the season. Ryan had five innings of work allowing nine hits, two earned runs, two walks, and striking out six. 

The Pacers travel to Immaculata Saturday to conclude the series.
