Pacers Roll Giants Behind Kane's, Ericson's Outputs

La Plume, Pa. — Marywood University ended its losing streak with a 15-8 win over Keystone College Wednesday in non-conference men's lacrosse. The Pacers broke open away from a tie by outscoring the Giants 8-1 for the final 27 minutes. 

Marywood (2-6) found its offensive footing with eight-point productions from Nick Ericson and Dillon Kane. Ericson finished with six goals and two assists to complement four ground balls. Kane tallied two goals and six assists. 

John Scibello returned to the lineup for the first time in seven games. He scored two goals and an assist. Aiden Kilkenny tallied two goals, and Jake Plokhoy netted two assists. 

Defensively, Nick Baker caused five turnovers and garnered five ground balls. Three players — Dalton Gerver, Gabe Stover, Colin Trainor — picked up six ground balls. Jake Plokhoy tallied four ground balls. 

Trainor made 10 saves. His Keystone counterpart Edwin Himmel-Maines racked 21 stops. 

Cam Wallace scored three goals and an assist. Ryan Smith had a hat trick. 

Keystone (3-7) jumped to an early lead on Smith and Wilson Ingalls goals. Lucas Wilson responded with a goal at the 5:33 mark of the first quarter. Ericson evened the score with 57 seconds left in the period. 

Marywood took the lead for the first time when Sheamus Scanlan scored from Kane with 7:45 left in the half. Smith evened the score back up within a minute. 

The two teams traded goals for the rest of the half until Kilkenny and Ericson scored within seven seconds of each other for a 7-5 lead. 

The Giants produced back-to-back to begin the second half, evening the score at 7-7. Marywood scored four straight goals to open up the game. Ericson gave Marywood an 8-7 lead with a goal from Kane. Less than a minute later, Kilkenny scored a man-up goal from Ericson. Ericson then found Kane for a man-up goal. Ben Peters tallied his first goal of the season to cap the run. 

After finishing up a Keystone goal to Cam Wallace, Marywood closed the game with four-straight goals. The last three Marywood goals came on man-up opportunities. 

Marywood outshot Keystone by a 74-33 margin. The Pacers picked up 56 ground balls to the Giants' 36. 

The Pacers are idle until Wednesday, April 3 when they host Penn College of Technology at 6 p.m.
