Marywood Ices Knights for First AEC Doubleheader Sweep

This is the first series win since 2022

Scranton, Pa. — The Marywood University baseball team (11-6, 2-3 AEC) swept the Neumann Knights (9-10, 0-5 AEC) Thursday 8-1 and 3-2. This is the first Atlantic East Conference series win since 2022. It is also Marywood's first Atlantic East Conference doubleheader sweep.

Game One: Marywood 8, Neumann 1

Christian Michak and Adam Ginsberg led the charge, each tallying two hits in the contest.

Max Slusser kicked it off for the Pacers in the first inning reaching on an error, plating Joel Ayers

The Knights threw a wild pitch which scored Ginsberg.

AJ Kuzior was hit by a pitch with bases loaded to plate the third run of the inning. 

Neumann then overthrew the bag at first to plate AJ Giannetti and Kuzior, putting the Pacers up, 5-0. 

In the fourth, Slusser hit a sacrifice fly to add an insurance run, scoring Ginsberg. 

The Knights scored their lone run with an RBI single to right field. 

The Pacers plugged on two more runs with a Slusser double making it 8-1. 

Nick Notari (2-2) is the winning pitcher pitching a complete game recording seven innings allowing six hits, and no earned runs. He struck out four and walked one. 

Vic Mejia (0-2) got the loss for the Knights, pitching four innings. He surrendered six hits, four earned runs, and four walks. 

Game Two: Marywood 3, Neumann 2

Marywood was led by Ayers in game two. He went two for four with two RBIs. 

Ayers got the Pacers on the board first with a single to right field, scoring Michak. 

The Knights responded in the top of the second with an RBI single to center. 

Michak then pulled the Pacers ahead with a sacrifice fly, giving them a 2-1 lead. 

Ayers added an insurance run in the fourth hitting a single to center, scoring Cameron Kohut

Neumann tried to rally in the sixth and was only able to produce one run to make it 3-2, Marywood. 

The Pacers were able to hold the Knights the rest of the game to claim the victory. 

Max Ryan (2-1) secured the win for the Pacers going five ⅓ innings allowing four hits, two earned runs, and three walks. He stuck out four. 

Michael Aronica got his first save of the season pitching three innings recording a clean sheet tallying just one walk. He struck out two. 

Aidan Jackson got the loss for Neumann pitching six innings, allowing six hits, two earned runs, and four walks. He struck out four as well. 

The Pacers will be seeking a series sweep Tuesday when the team travels down to Neumann.
