Pacers Sweep Eagles on Senior Day

Marywood wins five straight

Scranton, Pa. - The Marywood baseball team (13-6, 2-3 AEC) hosted Saint Elizabeth University (6-13) in a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday. The Pacers would take advantage of miscues by the Eagles to earn a sweep. 

Game One: Marywood 7, Saint Elizabeth 0

Adam Ginsberg led the Pacers with two hits as Nick Notari picked up his third win of the season. 

The first Marywood run of the game came in the first, as Christian Michak scored on a balk. Later that inning, Joel Ayers also crossed the plate on a second balk, putting the Pacers up 2-0. 

Marywood would capitalize on another Eagle blunder in the fourth as Ginsberg was able to score on a throwing error after reaching on a single. 

The Pacers added a handful of insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Michak was the first to score in the inning, with a single from Ayers. Ginsberg then hit an RBI single. He then would end up scoring on a wild pitch. 
Marywood grabbed their fourth run of the sixth inning, going up 7-0, when Max Slusser scored on another wild pitch. 

Notari (3-2) threw four innings allowing just two hits He struck out five and surrendered no free passes.

Danny Becker, Gerard O'Hare, and Derrick Ricci-Riner combined for three scoreless innings after Notari. Each pitcher threw an inning, combining for one hit, one walk, and three strikeouts. 

Game 2: Marywood 2, Saint Elizabeth 1

The Pacers and Eagles were in a pitcher's duel game two with both teams totaling one hit a piece. 

Marywood jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first with a double off the bat of Slusser which plated Ayers. Slusser would come around to score a run of his own on a wild pitch, putting the Pacers in front 2-0. 

Saint Elizabeth scored their lone run of the game in the top half of the fifth inning. Alexia Jorge reached on a fielding error, allowing Makhi Hinds to score, narrowing the Pacer lead to 2-1.  

This is where the score would stay, as AJ Jordan slammed the door in the seventh, picking up his fifth save of the year. 

Max Ryan (3-1) got the start for Marywood, hurling four scoreless innings of one hit ball, striking out four and walking one along the way. 

Matthew Klipple and Danny Cossa each tossed a scoreless inning each as well, allowing no hits, walking two, and striking out a pair. 

The victories catapulted the Pacers to a five game win streak. 

They will look to stretch their winning streak when hosting Eastern in a non-conference match-up on Tuesday.
