Women's Lacrosse Unravels Colonels, 20-1

Kaitlyn Smith has a career-best nine points

Edwardsville, Pa. — Marywood University won its second straight game in a 20-1 victory over Wilkes University Tuesday in non-conference women's lacrosse. The Pacers won their fourth consecutive game versus the Colonels in their series history. 

Kaitlyn Smith scored a career-best nine points to lead the Pacers offensively. She tallied five goals and four assists for nine points. Additionally, she contributed seven draw controls. 

Natalie Yilanjian matched Smith with five goals for the Pacers (2-3), adding an assist for a six-point effort.

Avery Meighan tallied five points with three goals and two assists. Meighan contributed on both sides of the ball with six ground balls and seven draw controls. 

Kortney Harry and Felicia Pescatore each provided three goals and an assist. Emily McLaughlin had two assists. 

Defensively, Tori Wilson and Pescatore collected three ground balls. Jenna Scala notched the win with a seven-save effort. 

Morgan Hettesheimer scored the lone goal for the Colonels (1-4).

Marywood outshot Wilkes by a 20-1 margin. The Pacers had a 16-7 advantage in draw controls. 

The Pacers scored the first 14 goals of the game. Meighan opened the contest with a goal from Yilanjian 1:16 after the opening whistle. Smith doubled the Pacers' lead 43 seconds later. Smith set off the running clock with an assist from Meighan at the 12:35 mark of the second quarter. 

Marywood looks to even its record against another Landmark Conference opponent on Saturday. The Pacers travel to Central Pennsylvania to take on Juniata College.
