Women's Lacrosse Brought Down by Undefeated Juniata

Huntingdon, Pa. — Marywood University came on the short end of an 18-10 decision against Juniata College Saturday in women's lacrosse action. The Eagles broke open a one-goal game with seven straight goals in the second half. 

Avery Meighan finished with five goals and an assist for six points. She tallied seven draw controls and four ground balls. 

Kaitlyn Smith was the only other multi scorer with two goals and an assist for three points. She produced three caused turnovers and four ground balls. 

On the defensive end, Tori Wilson and Madelyn Lee both had three caused turnovers. Wilson gathered four ground balls. Natalie Yilanjian had five draw controls and two caused turnovers. 

Jenna Scala made 14 saves with four ground balls. 

Juniata remains undefeated on the season, thanks to a six-point, eight-draw production from Peyton Goodrich. Tess Ledeboer caused six turnovers and scooped eight ground balls. 

It marked the first game in the teams' series history. 

Marywood (2-4) briefly took the lead in the second quarter. Felicia Pescatore started a three-goal run, capped by a Smith goal to give the Pacers a 7-6 lead. After the Eagles closed out the first half and started the second with a four-goal streak, Meighan provided back-to-back goals to move within one goal (10-9). 

The Pacers look to get back into the win column Tuesday at College of Mount Saint Vincent.
