Scranton, Pa. -- The Marywood University softball team played host to the Monarchs of King's College on Tuesday in a non-conference doubleheader. The Pacers (14-9) put up two wins, sweeping the Monarchs (10-16) by scores of 6-0 and 6-3.
Game 1: Marywood 6, King's 0
Marywood tallied six hits in the first game of the day, with Emma McNally recorded two of them to lead the team.
The Pacers wasted no time getting on the board, as McNally doubled to center, driving in Kat Davis in the home half of the first.
Marywood added to the lead in the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly off the bat of Priscilla Grill. McNally advanced to third, and then home, on a throwing error, making it 2-0.
In the fifth inning, the Pacers tacked on another to stretch the lead to 4-0. Marley Sarafinko singled down the line in right, driving in both Davis and Alex Dusman.
The Pacers added another insurance run in the bottom of the sixth. Lauryn Notari doubled, allowing two more runs to cross. Grill and Jessie Mack scored to make it 6-0, which is how it would finish.
Marissa Gregory (9-4) tossed a complete game for the Pacers, posting a line of four hits, zero runs, zero walks, and two strikeouts across the seven innings.
Sarafinko led Marywood with two RBIs.
Game 2: Marywood 6, King's 3
Marywood got on the board first, as McDonald singled to short in the home half of the first inning, plating Davis.
The Monarchs responded in the top of the second with two runs of their own. A RBI single and a RBI double put King's on top, 2-1.
In the top of the third, the Monarchs added on another with a sacrifice fly, stretching the lead to 3-1.
The Pacers were quick with a response, as Sarafinko singled up the middle to bring in Davis. Emily Kim followed that up with a HBP, allowing McDonald to cross the plate, tying the game up at 3-3.
Marywood regained the lead on the next batter, with a single from Morgan Sakulich which plated Grill. The fourth and final Pacer run of the third came on a fielding error that allowed Hanley to score to make it 5-3.
Grill helped the Pacers tack on another run in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single to right, scoring McNally to make it 6-3.
Gregory would lock down the Monarchs in the seventh, picking up her fifth save of the season. She now surpasses the single season saves record and career save record.
Sam Ferrara started the game for Marywood, tossing six innings of six hit ball, allowing three earned runs and four walks. Ferrara struck out three.
McDonald and Grill led the charge with three hits a piece.
The Pacers will play another non-conference twin bill on Wednesday, as they host the Elmira College Eagles.
