Pacers Sweep Cabrini on Senior Day

Pacers improve to 6-4 in Atlantic East Conference play

Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University earned its first series sweep over Cabrini University in a decade Saturday to celebrate Senior Day. The Pacers honored their lone graduating student-athlete Abbey Stalter prior to the game. 

The Pacers defeated rival Cabrini by 2-0 and 8-1 scores. 

Marissa Gregory set a school record with her 11th career shutout. She also set a record with her sixth shutout this season. 

Game One: Marywood 2, Cabrini 0

Gregory shut out the Cavs game one to improve to 10-4 on the season. She allowed just two hits and struck out one. 

The Pacers got their two runs in the fourth inning. Kat Davis led off with a double over the left fielder's head. She advanced to third on a passed ball. Then, Emma McNally doubled to right center plating Davis. 

Priscilla Grill plated McNally on an RBI single to give the Pacers an insurance run. 

Gregory did not allow a base runner for the last three innings to help secure the victory.

Avery Byrnes (8-4) allowed two runs and two walks in six innings of work. She struck out nine. 

Game Two: Marywood 8, Cabrini 1

Morgan Sakulich went 2 for 3 with three runs and a double. Priscilla Grill went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and a stolen base.

Stalter had a multi-hit game on her Senior Day. She went 2 for 3 with two stolen bases. Emma McNally and Tori Para each finished with two hits.

Para got things started by blistering a double to right center scoring Davis.

The Pacers added a second run on a first and third play, the Cavs threw down to second allowing Para at third to coast home on the throw. 

Cabrini put up a run in the second on an RBI single.

Marywood went on to add another run in the third with a single from Grill scoring Morgan Sakulich

The Pacers tacked on a run in the fourth on an RBI groundout off the bat of Davis.

Aaliyah Smith was called on to pinch hit in the bottom of the fifth for Marywood. She hit a two-run single giving the Pacers a 6-1 lead. 

Marywood added two more runs with an RBI double from McNally and an RBI single from Grill.

Dori IIyles (1-8) took the loss for Cabrini allowing 14 hits, six earned runs, and one walk. She struck out two.

Sam Ferrara (7-3) pitched the complete game for the Pacers allowing six hits and one earned run. 

Marywood hosts Misericordia Tuesday for a non-conference doubleheader.
