Marywood Splits Against Keystone

Scranton, Pa. – The Marywood University softball team earned their 19th win of the season in a split against Keystone College. The Pacers (19-11) held the Giants (12-14) to one run in game one. 

Game One: Marywood 6, Keystone 1

Marywood was led by Renee McDonald, Jessica Hanley, and Abbey Stalter who each tallied two hits in the contest. 

The Pacers in the bottom of the first crossed their first run of the game off an Emma McNally single, plating Kat Davis.

Marywood would add two more runs in the third. McDonald hit a sacrifice fly, bringing in Tori Para. McNally would score later in the inning on a wild pitch. 

Keystone scored in the top of the fourth on a wild pitch. 

The Pacers tacked on three runs in the sixth. Abbey Stalter hit an RBI single, scoring Alex Dusman. Marley Sarafinko singled to right, plating Jessie Kmak. Then, Davis scored on a passed ball. 

Marissa Gregory (12-4) earned the win pitching the complete game striking out 12 Giants. She surrendered four hits, one earned run, and one hit batter. 

Courtney Cienki falls to 7-6 on the season for Keystone. She pitched six innings allowing nine hits, five earned runs, and four walks. Cienki struckout six. 

Game 2: Keystone 7, Marywood 6

McNally led the Pacers offensively with three hits and two RBIs. 

Both teams were held scoreless until the bottom of the third when McNally drove in two runs on a single to the right side. Lauryn Notari drove in the third run of the inning. 

Keystone responded, scoring three runs of their own in the top of fourth. A reach on error and two RBI singles tied the game, 3-3. 

Marywood in the bottom half tacked on three more runs. Priscilla Grill singled through the left side scoring Dusman. Para hit a sacrifice fly, plating Stalter. Then with runners on first and third, the Pacers successfully stole home. 

The Giants went on to rally in the sixth, two RBI singles and a RBI groundout tied the game up at 6-6. Keystone jumped ahead with an RBI double. 

The Pacers threatened in the bottom of the sixth having bases loaded with no outs but Keystone escaped unharmed.

Sam Ferrara took the loss for the Pacers falling to 7-5 on the season. She pitched seven innings allowing 12 hits, four earned runs, and three walks. Ferrara struck out three. 

Clare Johns (3-6) earned the win for Keystone. Pitching four innings in relief, she surrendered four hits, one earned run, and two walks. 

The Pacers will face Centenary on Saturday for the last Atlantic East Conference regular season series.
