Pacers Drop Both in Doubleheader Against Gwynedd Mercy

Gatchalain goes two for two game one

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. – The Marywood University baseball (21-13, 6-9 AEC) team gets swept by the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins (12-23, 5-10). The Griffins swept the series. 

Game One: Gwynedd Mercy 5, Marywood 4

The Griffins scored one run in the first one an RBI groundout. 

The Pacers responded in the second scoring three. Tristan Gatchalain singled to center plating Vinny D'Auria

Cameron Kohut added a run on a fielder's choice. 

The third Marywood run came off the bat of Nick Ruiz with a single to the right side. 

The fourth inning helped the Griffins take back the lead. A throwing error plated one run. A two-run triple and RBI bunt single followed giving Gwynedd Mercy a 5-3 lead. 

Gatchalain singled in the sixth plating AJ Giannetti

Nick Notari took the loss for the Pacers falling to 4-3 on the season. He allowed six hits, four earned runs, and one walk in three ⅓ innings of work, striking out one. 

Charlie Hamm pitched two ⅔ innings of relief surrendering one hit and striking out two. 

Game Two: Gwynedd Mercy 8, Marywood 3

Gwynedd Mercy would go on to score eight runs in the first six innings. 

Marywood got on the board in the seventh when Max Slusser reached on a fielder's choice bringing in Joel Ayers

Adam Ginsberg hit a two-run single in the eighth. The Pacers trailed 8-3. 

Both sides were held scoreless in the ninth. 

Michael Aronica (3-2) took the loss allowing one earned run on eight hits, striking out two. 

Austin Bausman and Matthew Klipple combined three innings allowing no runs. 

The Pacers will go on to face Wilkes at home on Wednesday.
