Pacers fall to Wilkes, 3-2

Ginsberg goes two for three

Scranton, Pa. -- The Marywood baseball team hosted non-conference foe, Wilkes University (21-16) Thursday. The Pacers went on to fall to the Colonels by a score of 3-2, falling to 21-14 overall record.

Wilkes grabbed an early lead with a sacrifice fly to go ahead 1-0 in the top of the first inning.

After five scoreless frames, the Colonels extended the lead to 2-0 with a RBI single to right field in the top of the seventh.

Marywood was quick to answer this run. In the home half of the seventh, Tristan Gatchalain hit a sacrifice fly to right, plating Adam Ginsberg to make it 2-1.

The top of the eight saw another Wilkes run cross the plate, as another RBI single stretched the lead back to two.

The Pacers responded again with a run of their own in the bottom of the eighth. Nick Ruiz scored on a ground out from Joel Ayers, pulling Marywood back within one at 3-2.

Eight arms were used for the Pacers today, as the pitching staff combined for three earned runs on ten hits. No walks were issued and the committee tallied four strikeouts.

Nick Notari (4-4) picked up the loss.

Marywood picked up four hits on the afternoon, with Ginsberg (2-3) collecting two of them.

Ayers and Gatchalain recorded an RBI a piece.

The Pacers will head down to Marymount University for their last regular season series, starting Friday.
