Pacers Win Two Over the Knights

Para goes 5 for 7 in the sweep

Aston, Pa. -- The Marywood University softball team went on the road and brought home two wins in a conference doubleheader against the Neumann Knights. The Pacers defeated the Knights by scores of 3-1 and 5-3.

Game 1: Marywood 3, Neumann 1

Priscilla Grill collected two hits and two RBIs, pushing the Pacers to a victory in game one. 

Tori Para got it started for the Pacers in the top of the first, roping an RBI single to left field to score Marley Sarafinko. 

Grill followed up with an RBI single plating Para. 

In the fifth, Grill added an insurance run, hitting a single into left field. 

The Knights lone run came in the bottom of the sixth on a fielder's choice. 

Marissa Gregory earned the win for the Pacers improving to 6-3 on the year. She pitched seven innings allowing just four hits, one earned run, and two walks. She stuck out one. 

Olivia Ammon took the loss for Neumann, pitching seven innings allowing 12 hits, three earned runs, and one walk. 

Sarafinko, Para, Grill, and Jessica Hanley each recorded two hits in the victory. 

Game Two: Marywood 5, Neumann 3

Para went a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate in the game two victory over the Knights. 

Marywood jumped out first when Abbey Stalter singled to center scoring Hanley. 

Renee McDonald added a second run with a single to right field plating Para. 

Neumann responded in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run single, tying the game. 

Para singled to give the Pacers a 3-2 lead in the fifth.

The Pacers tacked on another run in the sixth with an RBI single from Sarafinko. 

Katelyn Eisely singled to right field in the top of the seventh to give the Pacers a 5-2 lead. 

For Neumann, in the bottom of the seventh, Kristen Pagliaro recorded a single and advanced to second on a stolen base. Alyssa Celi then drove her in with an RBI double. 

Marywood was able to get out of the inning with a pop out and a groundout. 

Sam Ferrara earned her fourth win of the season. She went four ⅔ innings allowing four hits, two earned runs, and four walks. Ferrara struck out five. 

Sydney Wright fell to 2-3 overall with the loss. She pitched 5 ⅔ innings allowing 10 hits, three earned runs, and one walk, while striking out two. 

Gregory earned her third save of the season — the second-most in Marywood history. She pitched 2 1/3 innings of relief, allowing three hits, one earned run, and striking out one. Her four career saves tie her for second all-time. 

The Pacers will be back in action Sunday with a conference doubleheader at home against Gwynedd Mercy.
