Women's Track Finishes AEC Runners-Up

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. — Marywood University was the Atlantic East Conference women's track and field runner-up for the second consecutive season. The Pacers finished ahead of third-place Neumann University with 130 points.

Lany Straub won both of the Pacers' individual gold medals. Straub won the 10K in 39:45.01. She repeated her 3K Steeplechase championship with a season-best time of 11:58.38. Straub also came in second place in the 5K and third place in the 1,500.

Abby Megotz broke the school record in the 200 dash. Megotz crossed the finish in 26.8 seconds in the final for fourth place overall. She took third in the 400 with a time of 1:00.91 that ranks third all-time in the school record books. Megotz placed fifth in the 100 dash in a personal-record 13.47 seconds.

Hayley Gaines was the runner-up in the 800 run. She clocked in at 2:29.56. Gaines was followed by Jocelyn Dames (2:34.85), Straub (2:42.06), Marissa Martin (2:53.94), and Sophia Williams (3:09.62).

Lucia Anawalt captured a silver medal in the discus with a throw of 79 feet, 5 inches (24.2m). She was third in the shot put at 27 feet, 8 1/4 inches (8.44m).

Marissa Martin earned a spot in the Marywood record books with her third-place finish in the triple jump. Martin's mark of 32 feet, 8 1/4 inches (9.96m) is fifth all-time at Marywood. She was also fourth place in the long jump (4.62m) and sixth in the high jump (4-2).

Maddie Gentile took fourth place in the 5K (20:01.57) and fifth in the 1,500 (5:19.09). Gabby Snee (20:44.14) and Kaitlyn Newberry (21:51.38) were fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 5K.

Newberry earned third in the 10K with a time of 44:37.86. Snee placed third in the 3K Steeplechase at 13:30.83.

Emma Wagner was fifth in the 100 hurdles in 19.66 seconds. Gaines and Dames went fifth and sixth in the 400 hurdles, coming in 37-hundredths of a second between them.

Daelyn Karboski produced a fifth place performance in the high jump, clearing 4 feet, 2 inches (1.27m).

Both of Marywood's relays were third place. The quartet of Gaines, Megotz, Dames and Wagner had a 4x100 time of 55.58 seconds. In the 4x400 relay, Martin joined Gaines, Dames and Megotz for a 4:20.63 finish.
