Marywood Magic! Pacers Roll Eight Straight Points for Fifth Set Comeback Win

Julie Strohm ices Del Val on final service effort

Scranton, Pa. — Trailing 10-7 in a deciding fifth set, Marywood University volleyball scored eight straight points off a Julia Strohm service to defeat Delaware Valley University on Saturday afternoon. The Pacers split their opening tri-match following a 3-0 loss to Cedar Crest College. 

Strohm capped the performance with a service ace for match point. The rally was led by a pair of Libby Smith kills, Strohm's ace and kill, and a Bethany Burns block. 

Marywood won by scores of 25-17, 26-24, 20-25, 13-25, 15-10. 

Ryleigh Hart led the Pacers in her Marywood debut with 10 kills and a .190 attack percentage. 

Autumn Savitski and Smith each produced nine kills. Casey Hagerstrom had seven kills and just one error for a .316 hitting percentage. 

Defensively, Peyton Fischer tallied 19 digs to complement three aces. Libby Smith totaled 16 assists and 11 digs for a double-double. 

Jaedyn Laws contributed 20 assists. Emilie Agnoli served four aces. 

Marywood trailed 21-19 in the second set before scoring four straight on Fischer serves. The Aggies scored two points on set point. Hagerstrom broke the 24-all score with a kill. Hart tallied set point with a kill. 

It was the teams' first meeting since 2015. The Pacers have a three-match winning streak over the Aggies. 

DelVal's Gretta Schneider had nine kills. Samantha Wilton and Grace Wilson each contributed 14 digs. 

Cedar Crest 3, Marywood 0

The Falcons cruised to a 25-13, 25-12, 25-14 win over the Pacers. Cedar Crest has won two straight matches over the Pacers after breaking the Pacers' 11-match streak that dated back to 2008. 

Cedar Crest's Ellise Everett had 10 points and a .643 attack percentage. Ava Grapsy had an all-around effort with 16 assists, four aces and eight digs. 

Savitski and Hart led the Pacers with five points.
