Lahr, Straub Lead the Pacers Past the Wolves

Marywood has a season-high 28 shots on target

Danbury, Conn. - Marywood University seniors Lany Straub and Cydney Lahr scored twice to lead Marywood University to a 4-1 victory over Western Connecticut State on Saturday in non-conference field hockey. The Pacers (3-4) record a season-high shots on goal posting 28 at the cage, in a 4-1 win over the Wolves (4-4). 

In the 10th minute of play, Marywood put up the first goal of the match. Cydney Lahr got the scoring started as she found the back of the cage to grab the 1-0 advantage. 

Lany Straub added to the Pacer lead with her first goal of the season. The tally, coming in the 22nd minute, grew the lead to 2-0 in favor of Marywood. 

Western Connecticut got on the board a minute after, following up with a goal of their own in the 23rd to cut the lead to 2-1 before the half. 

In the 33rd minute, Straub netted another one for the Pacers. The score came off of an assist from Lahr and made it 3-1. 

Marywood's Lahr was able to record a second goal of her own in the 51st minute to add some insurance for a 4-1 lead. Dariane Jones was credited with the assist on the score. 

The Pacers recorded a total of 32 shots in the game, with 28 of them being on goal. 

Lahr collected two total tallies on a whopping 16 shots, with 15 on goal. 

Straub gathered five shots, all on goal. 

The Wolves had one shot total, with that shot also being on target. 

Gracie Bomboy recorded 21 saves on the day for Western Connecticut. 

Sabrina Frazer collected the win in the cage for the Pacers. 

Marywood also had more corners, having 14 opportunities to the Wolves' four. 

The Pacers will head to FDU-Florham for their next matchup on Wednesday. Marywood last faced the Devils in the 2019 NCAA Division III tournament.
