Lahr's Hat Trick Elevates Pacers over Pioneers

Trott becomes winningest coach in Marywood field hockey history

Scranton, Pa. — The Marywood University field hockey team sparkled against William Paterson Saturday afternoon. Cydney Lahr recorded a hat trick and the Pacers (5-4) went on to defeat the Pioneers (2-5), 5-0.

The Pacers kicked things off in the 10th minute when Jordan Saybe drove the ball into the cage.

Marywood grabbed another goal before the half in the 22nd minute. Cydney Lahr was able to take advantage of a great pass from Maria Tomada to stretch the Pacer lead to 2-0.

All was quiet throughout the third quarter.

In the 50th minute, Tomada found Lahr once again, who tallied her second of the match.

Lahr followed that tally up with another, securing her third goal and a hat trick in the 53rd minute. The third Lahr tally grew Marywood's lead to 4-0.

A mere minute later, Tomada netted an insurance score of her own, assisted by Brooke Barwick, to make it 5-0.

With the win, Coach Julie Trott now has the most wins in program history with 51.

The Pacers dominated the match with 26 shots in total, 19 of which were on target.

The Pioneers got off three shots with none being on goal.

Marywood also led in penalty corners 18-3.

Sophia Chebookjian recorded 14 saves for William Paterson.

The Pacers will host SUNY Morrisville in their next matchup on Tuesday.
