Pacers Shut Out Giants in Home Opener

Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University captured its first field hockey victory of the season with a 2-0 win over cross-county foe Keystone College on Wednesday. Marywood scored both of its goals in the opening nine minutes.

Jordan Saybe and Corrin Hasty scored for the Pacers.

In the seventh minute of the match, Marywood gained the early advantage. Saybe netted her first tally of the year, putting the Pacers up 1-0.

The first quarter scoring wasn't over for Marywood though. In the ninth minute, Hasty was awarded a penalty shot and scorched the ball into the cage to stretch the Pacers lead to 2-0.

This 2-0 score would hold to halftime and for the entirety of the second half, as Marywood completed the shutout on their way to victory.

The shutout was protected and secured by the Pacers' net-minder, Sabrina Frazer, who recorded two saves.

For Keystone, Hannah Osbahr allowed just two goals, grabbing nine saves along the way.

The Pacers out-shot the Giants by the tune of 15-4, as well as 13-2 on-goal.

Marywood also had more penalty corners, tallying eight to Keystone's three.

The St. John Fisher University Cardinals come to town on Sunday.
