Jones' Hat Trick Cruises Pacers Past the Cardinals

Pacers have second consecutive shutout

Scranton, Pa. - On a brisk Sunday afternoon, the Marywood University field hockey team squared off with St. John Fisher in a non-conference matchup. The Pacers (2-2) would go on to record a hat-trick and shut out the Cardinals (0-4), 6-0.

Marywood's Dariane Jones got the Pacers on the board first, finding the back of the cage in the 6th minute of play. 

In the 13th minute, Cydney Lahr would add to the Pacer lead with a goal of her own, putting Marywood up 2-0. 

After a scoreless second quarter, the Pacers added to the lead in the third. Corrin Hasty buried a penalty stroke goal in the 31st minute of play to extend the lead to 3-0. 

A fourth Marywood goal was scored just two minutes after the last, as Jones beat the goalie and notched another tally. 

The Pacers didn't stop there though, as Jones was able to finish off a beautiful pass from Lany Straub, making it 5-0 Marywood., giving Jones a hat trick in the affair.

Maria Tomada netted another goal for the Pacers in the 48th minute, as Marywood went up 6-0. 

The Pacers had 19 shots today, with 14 being on target. The Cardinals had nine shots, with five on goal. 

Marywood bested St. John Fisher in penalty corners as well, having nine, compared to the Cardinal's three. 

The Pacers had Sabrina Frazer and Zoey Hall share time in the cage today combining for five saves. 

The Cardinals had Senja Matson and Morgan Parrinello combined for seven saves. 

Marywood will travel to cross-town foe University of Scranton on Wednesday.
