Caroline Walters Scores Game-Winner with Six Seconds Left

Marywood posts third straight clean sheet

Oneonta, N.Y. -- Marywood University junior Caroline Walters scored a game-winning goal with six seconds remaining in a 1-0 victory over SUNY Oneonta Saturday in non-conference women's soccer action. The Pacers remain undefeated and unscored upon through three games.

Following an offensive transition, Rylee Alston dropped the ball back to Britlyn Higgins. Higgins delivered a cross in the air. Walters beat out both the defender and the goalkeeper to get a head on the ball and send it into the net in the 90th minute.

Marywood (3-0) captured its third consecutive clean sheet. Genevieve Morrison made three saves, and Jenna Orr kept away one shot.

The Pacers out-shot the Red Dragons by a 13-7 margin with a 7-4 advantage in shots on target. Marywood doubled Oneonta State (0-1-1) with a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Oneonta State goalkeeper Bryanna Meehan made six saves. She kept away a lasered Maura Kirkpatrick strike in the 83rd minute.

It was Walters' seventh career goal and third career game-winning goal.

It was the first all-time meeting between the Red Dragons and Pacers.

Marywood will remain in Otsego County to take on Hartwick College on Sunday at noon. The Pacers are 3-1-1 all-time against the Hawks.
