Pacers Ground the Griffins in Dominant 8-1 Victory

Marywood's eight goals are the most in a single game since 2022

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. — On Wednesday evening, the Marywood University men's soccer team traveled down to Gwynedd Mercy University for a conference matchup with the Griffins. The Pacers (7-7-1, 4-1-0 AEC) went on to make a statement, claiming a dominant 8-1 victory. 

Marywood wasted no time getting on the board, as Donnie Powell netted the first goal of the game in the 4th minute. Alex Visha was credited with the assist. 

Drew Smith converted on a penalty kick just two minutes later, putting the Pacers up 2-0 in the 6th minute. 

Marywood added another in the 8th minute, as Jason Camardo converted on an assist by Jonathon Lowinger to make it 3-0 in favor of the Pacers. 

In the 20th minute, Lowinger scored one of this own, putting Marywood ahead 4-0. Ryan Surowiec picked up the assist. 

Surowiec then netted a goal himself in the 31st minute, helping the Pacers take a 5-0 advantage into the half. 

Manny Baez connected with Jason Tordy fresh out of halftime, extending the lead to 6-0 in the 54th minute. 

The Griffins broke the shutout in the 57th minute of play, making it 6-1. 

Ethan Vogt made sure to get the tally back for Marywood, putting the Pacers ahead 7-1. 

In the 84th minute, Vogt converted on an assist from Grant Bernstein to score the final goal for Marywood. 

The 8-1 final was both the largest point total and margin of victory for the Pacers this season. 

Marywood recorded a total of 24 shots in the game, with 14 being on-goal. 

Gwynedd Mercy had 12 total shots, three on target. 

The Griffins did lead in corner kick chances, 7-1. 

Brett Rosser started in goal for the Pacers. Jairo Salazar came in for the second half and recorded two saves on three shots in net for Marywood. 

The Pacers will look to build off of this dominant victory on Saturday, as they host Pratt Institute for Senior Day.
