Men's Soccer Streak Stretches to Five in Rout

Marywood guaranteed Atlantic East semifinal berth

Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University men's soccer won its fifth consecutive game in a 4-0 victory over Pratt Institute on Saturday. The Pacers guaranteed themselves of an Atlantic East Conference semifinal berth as either the No. 2 or 3 seed.

Marywood (8-7-1, 5-1 AEC) needs a win or a tie over Immaculata University Wednesday to earn the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament. The Pacers would also be the second seed with a Neumann University win or tie against Marymount University in their regular season finale.

The Pacers honored senior Jason Tordy, along with junior Pre-Physician Assistant majors Alex Visha and Nolan Kozera, prior to the game.

Jack Forbes finished with a pair of assists for the Pacers.

Grant Bernstein, Jake Brown, Drew Smith, and Manny Baez each scored. Visha added an assist on his Senior Day game.

Brown scored first in the 27th minute on a penalty kick goal.

Forbes had both assists within a three-minute span. He found Bernstein for a 15-yard goal in the 35th minute on a cross. Shortly later, a long Forbes pass found the head of Smith to extend the lead to three.

Visha found a running Baez to set up a 53rd minute goal.

Marywood's Ryan Schweigart earned the win with one save in 52 minutes. Jairo Salazar made two saves for the combined shutout.

Pratt's Dimitris Papagiannakopoulos made eight saves.

Marywood's five-game winning streak is its longest in 11 seasons. The Pacers won seven straight games in 2014.

The Pacers host Immaculata University on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
