Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University volleyball posted a straight-set victory over Centenary (N.J.) Wednesday night at Insalaco Arena. The Pacers rolled to a 25-22, 25-17, 25-19 win to improve to 23-4 overall and 4-2 in Atlantic East Conference play.
Four Pacers tallied at least seven kills in a balanced offensive performance. Taylor Hallam led the way with eight kills and a .400 hitting percentage, while Carolina Samaniego and Gracee Work each matched her with eight kills apiece. Taylor Howard chipped in seven kills and a team-high three blocks.
Ayla Bransford guided the offense with 33 assists, three service aces, and seven digs. Catie Woolf anchored the back row with 19 digs, while Andrea Fraga added 11.
Marywood hit .191 as a team, closing out the match with a .231 mark in the third. The Pacers also recorded eight team blocks and 10 service aces and held Centenary to a .067 hitting percentage.
Centenary (14-14, 2-4 AEC) was led by Jenny Thistlethwaite, who tallied 10 kills and 11 digs.
With one game to go, Marywood sits in a three-way tie for second-place with Immaculata University and Neumann University. The Pacers have the tiebreaker in the event of a three-way tie due to sets lost between the three squads.
The Pacers host Saint Elizabeth University on Senior Day on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m. in the Insalaco Arena.
