Lexington, Va. -- The Marywood University men's basketball team dropped a 93–67 decision to Kenyon College on Monday in the Washington & Lee College opening game.
Marywood stayed competitive early, shooting efficiently in the opening half and matching Kenyon's perimeter play. The Pacers hit six three-pointers in the first 20 minutes and were led by
Collin Himmelberg, who poured in 15 first-half points. Despite the offensive rhythm, Kenyon used strong rebounding and transition scoring to build a 53–35 halftime advantage.
Himmelberg finished with a team-high 21 points, knocking down five three-pointers to pace the Marywood offense.
Noah Perry added 10 points, while
Joe Macciocco chipped in nine points and three assists. Off the bench,
Andrew Quinn provided a spark with seven points, and
Pedro Lugo pulled down a team-best seven rebounds.
In the second half, the Lords outscored the Pacers 40–32 after the break and capitalized on second-chance opportunities and fast-break chances to extend the margin.
Marywood shot 40.4 percent from the field and 40.0 percent from three-point range on the afternoon, while Kenyon held a 44–30 advantage on the glass. The Pacers totaled 20 bench points and forced several turnovers but were unable to generate enough momentum to close the gap.
Marywood will look to regroup as it continues non-conference play before opening Atlantic East action later this season.
