Pacers Roll Keuka En Route to Second-Straight Win

Mayrwood earns first winning streak since March 18-25, 20223

Keuka Park, N.Y. — Marywood University earned its first men's lacrosse winning streak in two seasons with a 7-4 victory over Keuka College on Saturday. The Pacers went on a 5-1 run in the middle quarters to defeate the Wolves. 

Ben Meighan tallied his first career hat trick for the Pacers.

Marywood (2-1) trailed by two goals after the opening quarter. Ben Peters scored his fourth of the season on an unassisted opportunity to start a three-goal run. Shaun Howey tied the score at 2-2, and Meighan gave Marywood its first lead 90 seconds into the second half. 

Keuka responded with a Tre Lloyd goal at the 6:10 mark to even the score. 

The Pacers battled back with three unanswered goals. Lucas Wilson put Marywood ahead 4-3 from Osten Grigas with 4:47 left in the third. Ricky Stroebel scored the go-ahead goal from John Scibello at the 2:16 mark. Meighan followed with an insurance goal at 9:54. 

Keuka came within two (6-4) on Harrison Root's goal from Tre Lloyd with 5:38 left. Meighan tallied his third goal with 97 seconds left in regulation. 

Defensively, Dalton Gerver had six ground balls and three caused turnovers. Scibello added four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Stroebel matched a team-high with three caused turnovers. 

Marywood committed just one penalty. 

Luke Ament went 11 for 14 (78.5 percent) from the faceoff-x. He added nine ground balls. 

Colin Trainor secured the win with 10 saves, allowing a mere four goals. His counterpart Jaxson Tucker made 17 saves. 

Keuka's Logan McMurtry caused five turnovers. 

Marywood looks to avenge last year's defeat against King's College. The Pacers travel to Wilkes-Barre Township on Wednesday night.
