Pacers Pick Up Giant Victory at No. 23 Keystone

Gatchalain tallies four knocks while driving in a pair

La Plume, Pa. — Marywood University baseball defeated a nationally ranked opponent for the first since 2012 with a 10-4 win over No. 23 Keystone College on Tuesday. It was the Pacers' first win over a ranked team since beating the No. 10 Giants on March 30, 2012.

The Pacers ended a 10-game losing streak to the Giants that dated back to a doubleheader sweep on March 30, 2015.

To get the scoring going, Marywood's Tristan Gatchalain singled home Christian Michak to grab the early 1-0 lead in the top of the first.

Keystone knotted it up at 1-1 after a homerun in the bottom half of the inning.

The third inning saw another Giant cross the plate as Keystone took a 2-1 lead.

In the top of the fourth, the Pacers got another run as Adam Ginsberg crossed the plate on a Connor Rasimovich double.

Marywood retook the lead in the fifth, as Ethan Reccek hit a sac fly to plate Gatchalain.

Keystone tied up the game at 3-3 in the sixth.

Three Pacers crossed the plate in the seventh, as Gatchalain scored on a passed ball to break the tie.

Adam Ginsberg hit an RBI tripled to bring in Max Slusser to extend the lead to 5-3.

Ginsberg then scored later that inning on an RBI single from Will Hudson to make it 6-3.

In the top half of the eight, Jonathon Schmidt brought home Gatchalain to add another insurance run for the Pacers.

The ninth inning saw scoring from both teams, as Marywood grabbed three more runs in the top half.

Ginsberg crossed the plate first on a Tanner Vicendese walk, before a Michak walk brought in AJ Giannetti

Hudson scored on an RBI groundout by Gatchalain to bring in the tenth and final Marywood run.

The Giants managed to get one run back in the bottom of the ninth to make it 10-4 but it was too little too late at the Pacers finished off the dominant victory.

Seven Pacers saw the mound today, as Brett Kugler, Michael Conoscent,  Danny Tiedemann, Tim Higgins, Austin Bausman, Aidan Dolan, and Owen Reilly all combined four earned runs, three strikeouts and only one walk in the nine innings of work.

Kugler and Reilly recorded two innings a piece, while the others each hurled one.

Bausman was credited with the win for Marywood, his first of the season.

Gatchalain led the Pacers with four hits in the day, two for extra bases. He picked up a team-leading two RBIs along the way.

Marywood will look to stay hot on Friday as they travel to Centenary for the first of three games this weekend to open up Atlantic East Conference play.
