Four Pacers collect double-digit hits

Hackettstown, N.J. — The Marywood University baseball team traveled south to Centenary University Friday afternoon to take on the Cyclones. In their first conference matchup of the season, the Pacers (9-7, 1-0 AEC) grabbed a 5-0 victory.

Marywood struck first with a sacrifice fly off the bat of Nick Ruiz, bringing in Max Slusser, to grab the 1-0 lead.

In the top half of the fourth, the Pacers struck again as AJ Giannetti doubled down the right field line to bring in Slusser.

Ruiz then singled up the middle, plating Giannetti to extend the lead to 3-0.

The fourth Marywood run came on an RBI double from Ruiz to bring home Giannetti and make it 4-0 in favor of the Pacers.

In the top of the ninth, Tristan Gatchalain singled down the line to score Christian Michak. The added insurance run brought the Marywood lead to 5-0.

The Pacer offense collected ten hit on the day, with Giannetti leading the way with three.

Gatchalain, Slusser, and Ruiz all collected two hits a piece while Joel Ayers tallied one.
