Marywood Sweeps Atlantic East Track and Field Awards

Marywood opened the season at King's

Lancaster, Pa. -- Marywood University swept the first Atlantic East Conference men's and women's track and field Athlete of the Week awards of the season, officials announced Tuesday. Lany Straub and Kailie Fernandez-Naughton won the Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week awards, respectively. On the men's side, Jack Baronski won Track Athlete of the Week, and Will Kalinich claimed Field Athlete of the Week.

Straub finished in first place in the 1,500 at the King's College Monarch Invite. She ran a 4:57.35 to lead the field. Straub's time ranked third all-time at Marywood.

Fernandez-Naughton measured a long jump at 14 feet, 8 inches (4.47m) to finish first place at King's College. She won the five-woman field by a quarter inch.

Baronski won both the 800 and 1,500 runs at the King's Monarch Invite. He claimed the 800 with a time of 2:02.14. Baronski led the 1,500 by over 10 seconds with a 4:15.78 mark.

Kalinich placed third in both the discus and javelin at the King's Monarch Invite. In the discus, he hit a mark of 117 feet, 8 inches (35.86m). Kalinch's javelin measured at 148 feet, 4 inches (45.22m)
