Pacers Drop Twin Bill to the University of Scranton

Davis goes 4-7 in the doubleheader

Scranton, Pa. — The Marywood University softball team opened up the season with a crosstown doubleheader against the University of Scranton. The Pacers would go on to drop both games to the Royals, 6-5 and 8-0. 

Game One:

Riley Marshall led the Pacers, going 2-3, with a two-run homerun and a double. 

Tori Para got the Pacers on the board with a triple into right field, scoring Marley Sarafinko

The Royals tied it up in the bottom half with a double. 

Marywood scored two in the top of the second with RBIs coming from Para and Marshall. 

In the top of the third, Marywood added two more runs with a double from Marshall and a RBI single from Brianna Voyer, giving the Pacers a 5-1 lead. 

The Royals went on to have five unanswered runs, walking it off on a wild pitch to take game one by a score of 6-5. 

Sam Ferrara started in the circle for the Pacers, going 5.1 innings while allowing eight hits, four earned runs, one walk, and striking out one. 

Para came in for relief and took the loss for the Pacers after allowing three hits, two earned runs, while also recording a strikeout. 

Emma Douglas earned the win for the Royals. She pitched four innings in relief, allowing just one hit and walking one. Douglas struck out seven Pacers. 

Game Two:

Kat Davis led the Pacers offensively game two, tallying two of the Pacers' four hits. 

Voyer got the ball game two and pitched four innings, allowing five hits, three runs, zero earned runs, allowing two walks, and tallying five strikeouts in the loss. 

Jessica Plunkett and Grace Lorah came in for relief combing for five hits, five runs, three earned, one walk, and one strikeout. 

Scranton's first five runs were all unearned. 

The Pacers will travel down the sunshine state for the start of their spring break trip, opening it up with a game against Albertus Magnus, Monday.
