Women's Lacrosse Races Past Monarchs, 21-11

Kaitlyn Smith scores six goals

Wilkes-Barre Twp., Pa. — Marywood University posted a 21-11 victory over King's College on Wednesday in windy women's lacrosse action. The Pacers ended a two-game slide to remain undefeated through seven games in the series history. 

Natalie Yilanjian joined the 100 Point Club with a goal and an assist. Yilanjian currently has 101 points for her career. 

Kaitlyn Smith scored six goals for the Pacers. She added five draw controls, four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Smith joined the 200 Point Club for her career. 

Avery Meighan factored in with three goals and six assists for nine points. Meighan collected 12 draw controls and added five ground balls and four caused turnovers. 

Kortney Harry totaled three goals and an assist for four points. Felicia Pescatore provided a hat trick. 

Other multi-scorers included Alli Duncan with a goal and an assist. Jessica Banta scored twice. 

Jenny Keagy made five saves. Her counterpart Alyssa Reeber had 11 stops. 

Marywood outshot King's by a 41-18 margin. The Monarchs edged the Pacers 22-19 in ground balls. Marywood doubled King's 24-12 in draw controls. 

Smith opened the game with an unassisted goal at the 11:38 mark of the first quarter. King's Emilee Schultz evened the score 33 seconds later. 

Meighan and Banta followed with back-to-back goals in a 29 seconds. Banta's tally was assisted by Yilanjian for her 100th point. 

Pescatore scored three straight goals, two of which were a woman-up, leading to six-goal run. 

King's was led by Chloe Burke's four goals. Alli Lindsay was three goals and three assists. Lindsay added six draw controls and five ground balls. 

Marywood (2-3) hosts Kean University on Friday at 4 p.m.
