Marywood Ends Skid with Split at Immac

Reilly picks up the win in 3 1/3 innings pitched

Immaculata, Pa. -- Marywood University defeated Immaculata University for the first time since 2022 in an Atlantic East Conference baseball split on Sunday. The Pacers ended a five-game slide of their own.

Marywood defeated the Mighty Macs 6-2 in seven innings in the opening. The Pacers fell to Immaculata 17-7 in eight innings in the nightcap. 

Game 1: Marywood 6, Immaculata 2 (7 inn.)

The Pacers ended a six-game losing streak in the series history with the victory. 

Owen Reilly secured the win by throwing 3 1/3 scoreless innings. Reilly struck out three and allowed a hit. Austin Bausman took the hill for the start, yielding two earned runs in 3 2/3 innings. 

AJ Giannetti went 2 for 3 with a double and two runs. Joel Ayers and AJ Kuzior each drove in two RBIs.

Marywood jumped ahead with a three-run third inning. After Evan Bruder and Adam Ginsberg led off with a walk and a single, Joel Ayers cleared the bases with a triple to right-center. Kuzior tacked on another run with a double to bring in Ayers for a 4-1 lead. 

Giannetti drew a bases-loaded walk in the fourth to extend the inning. Bausman entered in the bottom of the frame to earn a punch out. 

Marywood added another run in the seventh. Giannetti led off with a double to center and scored on a wild pitch. 

Game 2: Immaculata 17, Marywood 7 (8 inn.)

Immaculata came back from a three-run deficit. After the Pacers scored three in the top of the third, the Mighty Macs scored five and eight in the third and fifth innings, respectively. 

Jonathan Schmidt had three RBIs for the Pacers. Adam Ginsberg hit a solo home run. 

Ayers and Bruder both finished with multi-hit performances. 

AJ Giannetti and Christian Michak reached four times with a hit, walk, and two hit-by-pitches. 

Marywood and Immaculata will play a rubber game Monday at 3 p.m. at Pacer Park.
