Marywood Storms Past Centenary in Doubleheader Sweep

Pacers improve to 5-3 in the AEC

Scranton, Pa. — The Marywood softball team had a re-match of the 2024 Atlantic East Championship game. The Pacers (12-12, 5-3 AEC) faced Centenary University (5-21, 1-7 AEC) Thursday afternoon and stole two from the Cyclones in 8-1 and 13-0 wins. 

Game One: Marywood 8, Centenary 1

Kat Davis, Tori Para, Riley Knott, and Renee McDonald had three hits in the contest. 

The score was knotted until the bottom of the third inning.  

The Pacers scored their first run on a single by Knott. McDonald followed with an RBI single, giving Marywood a 2-0 lead. 

Centenary's lone run came in the sixth on a sacrifice fly. 

Marywood broke away in the sixth, scoring six runs. Marissa Hoffman brought in two Pacers on a RBI double. Knott and McDonald each brought in their second runs of the day. Jessica Hanley drove a ball up the middle, bringing in a run. Riley Marshall then followed up with a RBI triple. 

Brianna Voyer got the win for the Pacers, improving to 8-7 on the season. Tossing a complete game, Voyer allowed eight hits, one earned run, and one walk. Voyer sat down two Cyclones. 

D'Ani Morales took the loss for Centenary, allowing 16 hits, eight earned runs, and three walks. Morales struck out one. 

Game Two: Marywood 13, Centenary 0 (5 Inn.)

The Pacers bats stayed hot in game two for the 13-0 run-rule victory. 

Hoffman started off the scoring with a sacrifice fly. Knott followed up with a triple to left field, scoring Para and Marshall. Knott came around and scored on a dropped-third strike. 

The Pacers moved from station to station in the second inning as Para, Knott, McDonald, Hanley, Priscilla Grill, and Marley Sarafinko had RBI singles. 

In the fourth, the Pacers tacked on three more runs. Marshall hit a single to centerfield, scoring Lianna Horner. Para followed with a two-run single. 

Marywood held the Cyclones in the fifth to walk away with the 13-0 win. 

Grace Lorah (5-2) collected the win for the Pacers, pitching five innings, while allowing four hits and five walks. Lorah struck out three. 

The Pacers will host Immaculata for the final regular season conference games on Saturday, April 26th.
