Marywood Outdone By Cougars in Non-Conference Doubleheader

Knott and Marshall belt home runs

Dallas, Pa. — The Marywood University softball team traveled to Misericordia University for a non-conference doubleheader against the Cougars. The Pacers went on to drop the twinbill 7-2 and 10-9. 

Game One: Marywood 2, Misericordia 7

Misericordia jumped ahead early, gaining a 5-0 lead after the first two innings. 

In the fourth, Riley Marshall hit a two-run homerun, cutting the margin to 5-2. 

The Cougars tacked on two more insurance runs to take a 7-2 lead. 

Brianna Voyer was in the circle for the Pacers. In six innings of work, Voyer allowed 12 hits, seven runs, five earned runs, and three walks. Voyer struck out three. 

Game Two: Marywood 9, Misericordia 10

Marissa Hoffman plated the first run of the game with a bases loaded walk. 

In the bottom of the first inning, Misericordia tied it with a RBI single. 

The Pacers scored six runs in the third inning. Jessica Hanley, Marley Sarafinko, and Alex Dusman all drew bases loaded walks. Marywood scored its fourth run of the inning on an error. 

Tori Para hit a two-run single, giving the Pacers a 7-1 lead. 

The Cougars went on to score eight unanswered, taking a 9-7 lead. 

Riley Knott tied it up 9-9 with a two-run homer in the sixth. 

Misericordia went on to walk it off in the bottom of the seventh, winning 10-9. 

Jessica Plunkett started in the circle for the Pacers. Plunkett pitched 3.2 innings, allowing eight hits, nine runs, and 11 walks. 

Grace Lorah pitched 2.2 innings in relief, allowing two hits and an unearned run. 

The Pacers will be back in action Saturday with a doubleheader against Immaculata.
