Pacers Split with King's in a Rainy Doubleheader

All Pacer starters tallied a hit in game two

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. — On a cold and rainy Wednesday afternoon, the Marywood University softball team traveled down to King's College for a non-conference double-header. The Pacers (9-13) and Monarchs split today, as Marywood bounced back for a 16-4 victory in game two. While in game one, King's took game one 17-0, while

Each of the Pacers' starters collected a hit in the contest. Kat Davis, Riley Marshall and Tori Para led the Pacers with three RBIs a piece. 

The Pacers came out on fire in game two, notching 11 runs in the top of the first inning. 

Marywood's first seven runs came off singles from Para, Renee McDonald, Marley Sarafinko, Lauryn Notari. The eighth and ninth runs were scored on bases-loaded walks, and the tenth and eleventh runs were scored on an error.  

All of the Monarch's scoring happened in the bottom half of the first inning. 

Marywood went on to score their twelfth run on a Davis single. 

The Pacers then added three more insurance runs in the fourth. Para hit an RBI single. Marissa Hoffman followed up, driving a ball into the left field gap, scoring Brianna Voyer. Marshall then hit a two-run single. 

Grace Lorah started in the circle for the Pacers. Lorah pitched a third of an inning, walking four batters and allowing two earned runs. 

Voyer (5-6) worked 4.2 innings in relief for Marywood, allowing just one hit.  

Game One: Marywood 0, King's 17 (5 Inn.)

The Monarchs got on the board in the second inning, putting up four runs on a double and two singles. 

King's did the majority of their damage in the bottom of the third, however, as they tallied a total of 13 runs in the inning. 

A pair of triples and six singles paired with a walk and a couple of RBI groundouts to allow the 13 Monarchs to cross the plate. 

The four Marywood hits were collected by Davis, Voyer, Hoffman, and Jessica Hanley

Davis and Sarafinko each recorded a stolen base. 

Voyer was credited with the loss for the Pacers. 

The Marywood pitching staff allowed a combined 17 hits and 11 runs (eight earned) in the game while also walking two and striking out a pair.

The Pacers will be on the road Saturday, taking on Marymount in an Atlantic East Conference match-up.
