Pacers Sweep Immaculata to Clinch the No.2 Seed in Atlantic East Conference Tournament

Marywood collect 32 hits on the day

Scranton, Pa. — The Marywood University softball team concluded Atlantic East Conference play Saturday, hosting Immaculata. The Pacers (17-17, 7-3 AEC) went on to sweep the Mighty Macs (14-22, 5-5 AEC), 11-4 and 8-0. 

The Pacers also honored seniors Jessica Hanley, Priscilla Grill, and Jessica Plunkett prior to the games. 

Game One: Marywood 11, Immaculata 4 

The Pacers collected a season-high 19 hits in the contest. 

Riley Knott led the offense with four hits,  tallying three RBIs in the contest. 

Riley Marshall also had a four-hit game. 

Immaculata scored first, as two runs crossed the plate in the top of the first inning. 

In the bottom half, Knott sliced the Mighty Macs lead in half with an RBI double to left field. 

The top of the third, the Mighty Macs scored their third run on a RBI single. 

The Pacers rallied in the bottom of the third, scoring four runs. 

Tori Para singled to left field, scoring Marshall. Renee McDonald then tied the game with an RBI single. Hanley gave the Pacers the lead with an RBI groundout. Sarafinko added a sacrifice fly, extending the lead to 5-3. 

Immaculata scored their fourth run in the fourth inning. 

The Pacers offense combined for six runs between the fourth and sixth innings. 

Brianna Voyer came in for relief and recorded her ninth win of the season. In 6.1 innings, Voyer surrendered six hits and two runs while walking two and striking out two. 

Plunkett started in the circle for the Pacers.

Game Two: Marywood 8, Immaculata 0

Hanley led the Pacers offense game two, going 3-for-3. 

In the bottom of the second, Sarafinko put the Pacers on the board with a RBI single up the middle. Kat Davis drew a bases-loaded RBI walk to make it a 2-0 game. Para followed, plating Marywood's third run on a fielder's choice. 

In the third, Davis hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 4-0. 

Marywood capitalized in the fourth, scoring on a Mighty Mac error and a wild pitch. 

In the sixth, Knott singled to right field, plating Alex Dusman for Marywood's seventh run. Marshall followed with a sacrifice fly for the Pacers' eighth and final run. 

Grace Lorah twirled five innings, allowing just two hits. Lorah improves to 6-3 on the season. 

With the sweep, the Pacers secure the number two seed in the Atlantic East Conference tournament which begins on  May 3rd. 

Marywood has one more regular season doubleheader on Tuesday, hosting SUNY Delhi.
