Marywood Swept by Neumann in AEC Twinbill

Aston, Pa. -- Marywood University was swept by Neumann University Sunday in an Atlantic East Conference baseball doubleheader. The Pacers fell by 9-2 and 8-5 scores. 

Game 1: Neumann 9, Marywood 2

Neumann scored five runs in the second inning en route to a win over the Pacers. 

AJ Giannetti went 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs. 

Evan Bruder, Joel Ayers, and AJ Kuzior also finished with two hits. 

Bruder and Nick Ruiz doubled. 

Austin Bausman took the loss with four strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings. 

Game 2: Neumann 8, Marywood 5

A three-run seventh inning derailed the Pacers in the nightcap. 

Tristan Gatchalian batted 3 for 5 with two runs and an RBI. Gatchalian also factored in with a double. 

Giannetti went 2 for 4 with two runs and an RBI. He had a stolen base and a hit-by-a-pitch. 

Marywood opened the game with a two-run lead in the first inning. Gatchalian hit an RBI double to left field. Giannetti drove in Gatchalian with a single to left.

After the Knights took the lead in the bottom of the frame, Marywood tacked on two runs in the third. Kuzior hit a sacrifice fly. Giannetti scored on a stolen base of home to take a 4-3 lead. 

Neumann responded again to tie the game in the bottom of the third. 

Adam Ginsberg singled in a run in the fifth. 

Marywood (13-19) heads to Drew University on Tuesday.
