Pacers' Late-Inning Charge Not Enough at Drew

Marywood hits two home runs

Madison, N.J. — Marywood University baseball scored all of its runs in the late innings but were unable to overcome Drew University in a 6-5 loss on Tuesday. It was the Pacers' first meeting against Drew.

Christian Michak went 2 for 4 with two RBIs. AJ Kuzior was 2 for 3 with two RBIs.

Marywood hit a pair of home runs. Both AJ Kuzior and Max Slusser hit their first roundtrippers of the season.

Drew broke open a scoreless game in the fourth. M. Gallaro hit a single up the middle to score a run.

The Rangers put up four runs on back-to-back doubles in the sixth inning to take a 5-0 lead.

Marywood finally got on the scoreboard in the seventh inning. After Avery Wells doubled to left field, Michak hit an infield single for an RBI.

After Drew responded in the bottom of the seventh, Marywood scored a pair in the eighth. Slusser hit his ninth career home run to left field. Jaylen Robinson singled up the middle, and Michak drove him in with a single down the left line. The Pacers' inning ended when the Drew center fielder threw out a runner at home.

Marywood scored two more runs in the ninth. Following one of AJ Giannetti's two walks on the game, Kuzior hit a two-run home run to left field. Slusser walked to put the tying run on base with one out. Drew was able to put out the final two Pacers' batters for the win.

Noah Trager made his first career start, allowing just one earned run in five innings. Ronan McManus pitched a scoreless two-thirds of an inning.

Danny Tiedemannn pitched a one-two-three ninth.
