Marywood Drops Series Finale to Marymount

Pacers to play Immaculata on Friday

Scranton, Pa. — On Wednesday afternoon, the Marywood University baseball team welcomed Marymount University for the third game of their conference series. The Pacers (9-11, 1-5 AEC) dropped the matchup to the Saints by a score of 13-3.

Marymount came out swinging, grabbing a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

The Saints added another run in the second to make it 3-0.

In the bottom of the fourth, Marywood got on the board with a run of their own as Adam Ginsberg crossed the plate on an RBI single from AJ Giannetti, cutting the lead to 3-1.

Eight more Marymount runs scored in the top of the fifth, as a two RBI single was followed by a two-run homer to extend the Saints' lead to 7-1.

The deficit then grew even larger as Marymount's Jordan Dickson blasted a grand slam to drive in four more and make it 11-1 in favor of the Saints.

In the bottom half of the fifth, the Pacers grabbed one back as Evan Bruder scored on a Joel Ayers walk.

Marymount tacked on two more insurance runs in the top of the sixth with an RBI single and a sacrifice fly, making it 13-2.

The Pacers tallied a late run in the bottom half of the sixth as Tanner Vicendese was hit by a pitch to bring home Giannetti, but the deficit was too large.

Marywood went on to fall 13-3 in seven innings.

The Pacers totaled only four hits in the game, as Vicendese collected two of them.

Ayers, Giannetti, and Vicendese each recorded an RBI.

Owen Reilly (1-3) picked up the loss for Marywood, pitching the first two innings of the matchup.

Five other Pacers also saw the mound today, and the staff totaled four strikeouts while allowing 13 hits, 12 earned runs, and six walks.

Austin Bausman recorded two scoreless innings for Marywood, allowing zero hits and two walks while striking out a pair.

The Pacers are back in action on Wednesday, as they host Immaculata University for another conference matchup.
