Marywood Inducts 26th Class to Athletics Hall of Fame

2010-13 Men's Tennis teams join Hall of Fame

Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University announced its 26th class into the Athletics Hall of Fame this month. Diana D'Achille, Meghin (Palmer) Boryan, Kim Lope, Ashley Dommes and the 2010-2013 Men's Tennis Teams joined the list of celebrated individuals and teams in the Hall of Fame.

Diana D'Achille '14 (Women's Cross Country/Lacrosse): Originally from Denville, N.J., D'Achille was a two-sport student-athlete for the Pacers from 2010-2013. D'Achille was a two-time Marywood Female Athlete of the Year in 2010-11 and 2012-13. She led the Pacers to four Colonial States Athletic Conference women's cross country championships and most wins in women's lacrosse program history. In 2013, D'Achille helped the Pacers earn an at-large berth to the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championship, where they finished 24th overall. 

D'Achille won two CSAC Individual Cross Country Championships in 2010 and 2013. She is both the Marywood and CSAC School Record Holder in the 5K (18:03) and 6K (21:41). She was a four-time CSAC First Team All-Conference recipient and a three-time U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Asssociation All-Region honoree. D'Achille ran to a seventh place finish at the Mid East All-Region Championships to earn an automatic qualification to the NCAA Championships. Her performance led Marywood to a program-best third place finish at the regional race. D'Achille was twice named the Team MVP. She was honored to the CSAC 25th Anniversary Team. 

In women's lacrosse, D'Achille was the Synapse Sports Division III Rookie of the Year and USA Colleg Lacrosse, Inc. Rookie All-American (2011). She was CSAC First Team All-Conference in both of her seasons, and she earned ECAC Metro/South Second Team All-Region once. D'Achille is a member of the 100 Goals Club (164) and 200 Points Club (206). She held single-season records in points (101), draw controls (148), shots on goal (139), and free-position goals 26). D'Achille is the current leader in single-game assists (6) and points (12).

Academically, D'Achille was a CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District IV First Team in 2013. She earned two USTFCCCA All-Academic Awards. 

Ashley Dommes '11 M'12 (Softball): The Scranton native led the Pacers to three 20-win seasons in 2009, 2011 and 2012. Dommes took the Pacers to two consecutive ECAC South Region Tournament berths. 

Dommes was selected to the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-East Region Second Team in 2010 as a third baseman. The three-time team captain was a three-time All-Colonial States Athletic Conference honoree, earning First Team honors in 2010 and 2012 and Honorable Mention in 2011. Dommes was named to the ECAC All-South Region Second Team in 2012. 

Dommes is Marywood's career record holder with 20 home runs. She as single-game records with three doubles versus Rosemont and six RBIs versus Keystone. For her career, she batted .367 with 84 runs, 28 doubles and 105 RBIs.

Kim Lope '12 (Softball, Women's Volleyball): A Clifton, N.J. native, Lope was a two-sport athlete that earned five all-conference honors. She was a four-time All-CSAC honoree in softball, named to the First Team (2011), Second Team (2009, 2012), and Honorable Mention (2010). Lope captured All-CSAC Second Team honors in 2011. 

Lope became one of Marywood's most recognized softball players that still holds career school records in games played (156), runs (177), triples (23), and stolen bases (125). She also holds the single-season runs scored (54) and stolen bases (38) records — both set in 2012. Lope holds the CSAC records in single-season stolen bases, career triples, career stolen bases, and career runs (now second). 

tennisLope finished her career ranked ninth in career stolen bases in NCAA Division III history. She holds three of the top four stolen-base seasons in CSAC history, and she owns the three highest stolen-base seasons at Marywood. Lope twice set a record with four steals in a single game. She began her career with 27 consecutive stolen bases without being caught. Lope batted .387 in four seasons.

In volleyball, she was the team captain in 2011 — a season that she led the team in kills and total blocks. Lope had 488 kills and 106 total blocks with a .160 attack percentage in 299 career sets played. 

Meghin (Palmer) Boryan '13, M'14 (Softball): Originally from Greencastle, Pa., Boryan is the only two-time Academic All-American and the lone First Team Academic All-American in Marywood Athletics History. She was selected to the Capital One/CoSIDA Division III Academic All-American First Team in 2012 and Third Team in 2013. Boryan was twice named CoSIDA Academic All-District IV. She was named to the CSAC Academic Honor Roll all four seasons.

Boryan holds the Marywood school records in career hits (246), career batting average (.462), and single-season hits (71). She is the CSAC record holder in career hits, and she held the career batting average record (now second). During her playing career, Boryan held the school records for single-season games played and started (42). She completed her career with 131 runs in 150 games. 

Boryan was Marywood's Senior Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2013. She is a four-time CSAC All-Conference recipient, earning three First Team honors (2010, 2011, 2012) and a Second Team recognition (2013). Boryan was a ECAC First Team South Region honoree in 2011. Boryan was the Team MVP in 2011. The CSAC named Boryan to its 25th Anniversary Team. 

2010-2013 Marywood Men's Tennis Teams: Over a four-year period, Marywood's men's tennis program had a 53-19 overall record and went undefeated in 28 conference matches. Led by Athletics Hall of Fame head coach Art Comstock, the Pacers won four CSAC championships and made four-straight NCAA Division III tournament appearances. 

The Pacers won a school record 15 wins in 2010. They held a 32-match conference winning streak that ranged from April 13, 2009 to April 12, 2013. 

Beyond the numbers, these teams were defined by their relentless drive and unmatched camaraderie. In those four years, Marywood had 31 All-CSAC honorees: 14 Singles First Team, eight Singles Second Team, eight Doubles First Team, and a Doubles Second Team. Todd Doran was the CSAC Player of the Year in 2012. 

For their four titles, Marywood defeated Neumann 5-2 in 2010, Baptist Bible 5-1 in 2011, Baptist Bible 5-0 in 2012, and Immaculata 5-0 in 2013. The Pacers fell to Texas-Tyler, Farmingdale State, Nichols and Vassar in the first round of the NCAA Division III Championships.
