Pacers Tame Lions in Non-Conference Sweep

Improves to 11-15 on the season

Scranton, Pa. — The Marywood University Pacers hosted the Albright College Lions on Wednesday afternoon for a doubleheader. The Pacers walked away with two wins, sweeping the Lions, 9-1 and 7-4. 

Game One: Marywood 9, Albright 1

The Pacers started off hot, scoring five runs in the bottom of the first. Tori Para roped a two-run double to center, plating Brianna Voyer and Kat Davis

Para then made it to third on a passed ball, eventually and scoring on a groundout by Marissa Hoffman

Jessica Hanley brought in the Pacers' fourth run with an RBI double. 

Marywood's fifth run of the inning came from an RBI single off the bat of Renee McDonald

The Pacers went on to tack on two more runs with an RBI double from Para and a RBI single from Riley Marshall

Albright's lone run came in the third inning, thanks to an RBI groundout. 

In the fourth inning, Hanley laced a two-run single to extend the Pacers' lead to 9-1. 

Voyer collected the win for Marywood. In five innings of work, Voyer allowed seven hits, one earned run, and collected one strikeout. 

Game Two: Marywood 7, Albright 4

The Pacers tallied one run in each of the first three innings. 

Davis scored on a passed ball, Hanley recorded a sacrifice fly, and Riley Knott collected an RBI single. 

Albright's first run of the game came in the fifth inning on an RBI groundout. 

The Lions then had an RBI double in the top half of the sixth to make it a 3-2 game. 

 In the bottom half of the sixth, Marywood capitalized on a pair of Lions' errors to extend the lead to 7-2. 

Albright would attempt to rally in the seventh, cutting the lead to 7-4, where the game would finish. 

The Pacers were able to get out of the jam, and collected their second win of the day.

Grace Lorah started for the Pacers in the circle. In five innings of work, Lorah had allowed no hits, five walks, and four strikeouts. She allowed one unearned run. 

Voyer came in for relief and surrendered three hits, three runs (one earned), and two walks. Voyer struck out two Lions. 

The Pacers will resume conference play on Saturday with a doubleheader against Neumann.
