Forbes Aces Penalty Kick to Lift Pacers over Colonels

Osborne earns win in Marywood coaching debut

Edwardsville, Pa. — Head Coach Brian Osborne earned a victory in his first game leading the Marywood University men's soccer program. The Pacers defeated the Colonels 3-2 on Friday at Bruggeworth Field.

Jack Forbes scored the game-winning goal in the 74th minute. After his penalty kick was saved, Forbes collapsed on the rebound.

Forbes had his first career brace.

Both teams combined for four goals in the opening 20 minutes.

Forbes opened scoring in the fourth minute with an unassisted tally. Wilkes responded right away in the 10th minute when Elijah Emedoh-Kaba converted a Diego Almieda assist to even the score at 1-1.

Almieda supplied the Colonels with a lead in the 19th minute.

Wilkes' lead lasted a mere 72 seconds. Owen Clearwaters squared the game at 2-2 off an Anthony Oramas assist in the 20th minute.

The Colonels outshot the Pacers 15-13; however, Marywood had an 11-6 advantage in shots on target. Wilkes had a slight 6-4 edge over Marywood in corner kicks.
