Men's Tennis Off to Best Start Since 2013-14

Marywood wins fourth straight match for first time since 2012-13

Dunmore, Pa. - Marywood University improved to its best record to begin a men's tennis season since 2013-14. The Pacers defeated Misericordia University 5-2 on Tuesday. 

Marywood improves to 4-1 overall on the season. It won its fourth straight match for the first time since the 2012-13 season. 

Gavin Gagliardo won the top singles flight by 6-3, 6-3 scores. Zane Smoker had a 6-2, 6-3 win in the third singles.

Both Isaac Carpenter and Aidan Brunner needed three-set wins in the No. 4. and 5 singles, respectively. Carpenter came back from an early setback to win 1-6, 7-5 [11-9]. Brunner dominated the tiebreaker set for a 6-2, 5-7 [10-1] victory. 

Alex Corcoran lost in the third set of the No. 2 singles by a 6-2, 4-6 [10-4] score. 

Marywood won all three doubles matches to earn the point. Corcoran and Gagliardi won the top flight by a 6-2 score. Carpenter and Smoker earned a 6-4 decision in the second flight. Both Brunner and Jack Biggs captured a 6-3 win in No. 3 doubles. 

The Pacers travel to Susquehanna University on Saturday.
