Women's Tennis Edges Cougars to Remain Unbeaten

Three singles matches go three sets

Dunmore, Pa. -- Marywood University edged Misericordia University 4-3 in women's tennis on Tuesday. The Pacers remain undefeated through three matches to start the season. 

Marywood stands 3-0 for the first time since the 2013-14 season. 

The Pacers won the third through sixth singles to defeat the Cougars for the first time since April 2017, ending a four-match losing streak to the future MAC Freedom foe. 

Avianna Santarelli came back to win the No. 3 singles by 2-6, 7-5 [10-6] scores. Catarina English prevailed by a 6-1, 3-6 [11-9] score in a closely matched fourth singles set. 

At No. 5 singles, Hanna Adonizio won extra points in a long first set 7-6 (11-9) before shutting out her opponent in the second set. Hannah Brownlee recorded a 6-3, 6-2 win in No. 6 singles. 

Alexandra Vitale fell 7-5, 6-7 (5-7) [10-8] in the second singles. 

Marywood won the top doubles flight. Kylie Kilgore and Vitale won 6-4. 

The Pacers travel to Susquehanna University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
