Women's Lacrosse Opens With Setback to Red Hawks

Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University opened its women's lacrosse season with a 19-8 loss to Montclair State University on Saturday.

Natalie Yilanjian led the Pacers with four goals.

Avery Meighan provided two goals and an assist. Kaitlyn Smith added a pair of goals. Both Meighan and Smith had six draw controls. 

Defensively, Haley Abraham had five ground balls. 

Montclair State's Norah Monaghan and Cara McCartney each scored four goals. Amra Lukovic had eight draw controls. 

The Red Hawks scored three woman-down and five woman-up goals. 

Marywood cut it to a 6-4 deficit in the second quarter. A pair of Red Hawks goals in the last three minutes gave Montclair State an 8-4 lead at halftime. 

The Red Hawks went on a seven-goal run.

Marywood travels to DeSales University on Wednesday.
