Pacers Outlasts No. 25 Gettysburg in Pitcher's Duel

Marywood defeats nationally ranked team for the second straight season

Fort Pierce, Fla. - Marywood University delivered No. 25 Gettysburg College its first baseball loss of the season on Tuesday. The Pacers outlasted the nationally ranked Bullets with a 3-2 victory.

Marywood earns a win over a nationally ranked team for the second straight season. The Pacers gave the Bullets their first loss in 10 games this season. Playing for the sixth time in eight seasons in Fort Pierce, Floria, the Pacers earned their first win over Gettysburg.

Austin Bausman prevailed in a pitcher's duel for his second win in as many starts. Bausman allowed just an earned run in five innings of work. He struck out six batters and yielded just four hits.

Noah Trager did not allow a hit in three innings. Isaac Galarza picked up his first save, allowing an earned run in the ninth.

Marywood (4-4) scored all three of its runs in the first two innings. The Pacers put up two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Evan Bruder led off with a single through the left side. Joel Ayers hit a double to put a pair of runners in scoring position. After Ethan Reccek struck out swinging, the Gettysburg catcher threw a dropped third strike into the outfield, bringing in both Bruder and Ayers for an early lead.

In the second inning, Nick Ruiz hit a one-out double down the right line. Cam Bott legged out an infield single. Bruder drove in what would be the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly to center.

Gettysburg (9-1) cut into the Pacers' lead in the fifth inning. Adam Hicks singled to right center field, and center fielder Bott threw him out at second base. Will Bercaw hit an RBI groundout to trim the deficit.

Holding on to a 3-1 lead in the top of the ninth, the Pacers benefited from the weird and wild that Spring Break baseball has up its sleeve. After a pair of one-out singles put runners on the corners with the winning run at the plate, Will Roche hit an RBI single to the right-center gap. The Bullets' pinch runner at first base turned around, thinking center fielder Bott had run down the gapper. Roche then passed the preceding runner on the base paths and was immediately called out by the umpire. Galarza stranded the tying run at third base, inducing a fly out to right fielder Mike Biskup

Bruder finished 1 for 3 with a run and an RBI. Ruiz doubled as part of a 2 for 4 effort with a run scored.

It is Marywood's first win over a nationally ranked opponent since besting No. 23 Keystone College in March 2025.

After an off day on Wednesday, the Pacers will face off against Washington (Md.) and Northwestern (Minn.) on Thursday.
