Franko Named Coordinator of Athletic Communications

Former Keystone alum joins Marywood Athletic Communications staff

Scranton, Pa. — Colin Franko was named Coordinator of Athletic Communications at Marywood University, Director of Athletics and Recreation Andrew Smith announced. Franko joins the Athletic Communications staff that provides in-game coverage for Marywood's 23 varsity programs plus esports.

Franko arrives at Marywood following a three-year tenure as the Sports Information Director at Keystone College. He oversaw all aspects of athletic communications for the Giants' 16 intercollegiate programs, including media relations, game operations support, website management, and social media strategy.

"We are exceptionally excited about Colin joining our growing Athletic Communications staff," Director of Athletic Communications Jay Monahan said. "Franko has been a frequent helping hand here at Marywood, and our coaches are very happy to have his passion and work ethic to our staff. He will be a tremendous addition to our team, and we're excited for him to use his skill sets as we transition into the Middle Atlantic Conference next year."

Prior to his appointment as Sports Information Director, Franko served as Keystone's Assistant Sports Information Director during the 2022–23 academic year. He previously returned to campus as a Sports Information Intern in the fall of 2021.

In addition to his work at Keystone, Franko supported athletic events at neighboring institutions. He frequently assisted Marywood with public address announcing and statistics, while also contributing sports information support to the University of Scranton and King's College.

Franko was selected as a finalist for the D3SIDA Region 2 Communicator of the Year award in 2025.

A 2020 graduate of Keystone, Franko was a three-year member of the men's tennis team. He earned All-CSAC Singles First Team honors in 2019 and was named to the CSAC All-Sportsmanship Team in 2017.

He served as director of social media and marketing for Keystone's baseball program during the 2019 and 2020 seasons and for the men's soccer program in 2019.

A native of Tunkhannock, Pa., Franko earned a bachelor's degree in communications with a concentration in journalism from Keystone. He later completed a master's degree in intercollegiate athletic leadership from Messiah University in May 2022.
