Ginsberg’s Three Hits Lead Marywood Past NJCU

Jersey City, N.J.- After building a commanding early lead, the Marywood University baseball team held off a late rally from New Jersey City University to secure an 8–5 win on Thursday afternoon.

The Pacers wasted little time setting the tone, capitalizing on defensive miscues in the opening inning. Joel Ayers delivered a bunt single that turned into two runs after an error, and Tanner Vicendese added a sacrifice fly.

Marywood continued to apply pressure in the second, as Adam Ginsberg and AJ Kuzior each drove in runs to extend the lead. An inning later, the Pacers broke things open with three more runs, highlighted by another run-producing effort from Ayers and an RBI single from Kuzior.

New Jersey City showed life in the eighth as they scored three runs to cut into the deficit.

The Gothic Knights continued to threaten in the ninth, plating two more runs and bringing the tying run to the plate. With the momentum shifting, Brett Kugler entered and shut the door, inducing a game-ending double play to secure the save.

Marywood's offense finished with 12 hits, led by Ginsberg's three-hit, three-run performance at the top of the lineup. Kuzior added three hits and two RBIs, while Ayers drove in two runs and reached base three times. Cam Bott also contributed with two hits and two runs scored.

Noah Trager turned in a sharp outing on the mound. The right-hander allowed just one hit over four scoreless innings, striking out three. Aidan Dolan tossed a scoreless fifth inning to secure his first victory of the season.

The Pacers welcome Regent University for a doubleheader on Saturday at 12 p.m.
