Walters Cracks Record Book in Track & Field Debut

Wilkes-Barre Twp., Pa. — Marywood University opened its men's and women's outdoor track and field schedule at the King's College Monarch Invite on Saturday. There was no team scoring at the meet.

In her collegiate track debut, Carly Walters won the 400. She ran the fourth-best time in school history with a 1:02.04. Marywood took the top five places in the race, followed by Caroline Walkters (1:03.49), Abby Megotz (1:07.2), Tasiyah Johnson (1:08.09) and Carolina Samaniego (1:08.74).

Elizabeth Tomasetti took first place in the 400 hurdles in 1:12.19. She ran the third-best time at Marywood.

Marywood won both women's relays. Tomasetti, Johnson, Megotz and Braelyn Reed came in first in 52.95 seconds. In the 4x400 relay, Janelle Sanabria, Rylee Alston, Samaniego and Camilla Zimmerman won in 4:43.22.

Paige Redman won the 5K in 20:00.96. She was followed by Cassandra Julianna (22:28.06) and Zoe Badner (22:59.12).

Lean Zambetti grabbed first in the javelin with a mark of 116 feet (35.37m).

Reed finished second in the 100 dash in 13.28 seconds. She was runner-up in the long jump with a distance of 15 feet, 8 3/4 inches (4.79m).

In the 1500, Zimmerman and Sanabria were second and third places with times of 5:34.03 and 5:35.29.

Kalie Fernandez-Naughton measured a triple jump at 30 feet, 5 1/2 inches (9.28m) for second place.

Marywood travels to Widener University this weekend.
