Pacers Battle Hard but Fall Short at Juniata

Huntingdon, Pa.- The Marywood University women's tennis team opened their 2026 spring season on the road with a hard-fought effort, but came up short against Juniata College, falling 5‑2.
From the outset, the Eagles set the tone on the doubles courts, capturing two of the three points to claim the early advantage.

At No. 1 doubles, Juniata's Medina Yessenaliyeva and Celia Navarro de Torres defeated Marywood's Kylie Kilgore and Catarina English, 6‑0.

The Pacers responded at No. 2, where Avianna Santarelli and Hanna Adonizio pulled out a 6‑2 win over Nina Meadows and Katie Wagoner.

In singles action, Juniata continued to apply pressure, taking the first three flights. Yessenaliyeva outlasted Kilgore in straight sets, 6‑1, 6‑1, while Navarro de Torres and Nina Meadows both posted victories at Nos. 2 and 3.

The middle of the lineup was where Marywood showcased their fighting spirit. Hanna Adonizio, at No. 4 singles, battled through a marathon three-set match, eventually prevailing 2‑6, 6‑2, 7‑6 in a thrilling tiebreak finish.

Meanwhile, Hannah Brownlee clinched a hard-fought 6‑4, 7‑5 win at No. 5 singles.

The Pacers open Atlantic East Conference play next Saturday, Mat. 28 against Neumann Unievrsity at 1 p.m.
