Pacers Cruise to 6–1 Victory Against Neumann

Scranton, Pa.- The Marywood University women's tennis team opened Atlantic East Conference play in dominant fashion on Sunday afternoon, defeating Neumann University, 6–1, at the Pacer Courts.

Marywood (6-3, 1-0 AEC) built its victory on a strong showing in doubles play, winning two of the three flights to secure the opening point. The second doubles pairing of Hanna Adonizio and Avianna Santarelli earned a 6–3 win, while Abigail Mach and Hannah Brownlee followed with a decisive 6–1 victory at third doubles to clinch the team point.

The Pacers carried that momentum into singles competition, where they captured five of six matches to put the contest out of reach. Santarelli led the charge with a commanding 6–0, 6–1 win at No. 2 singles, while Catarina English was equally dominant at No. 3, winning 6–1, 6–1.

Adonizio and Brownlee mirrored those efforts at Nos. 4 and 5 singles, each posting straight-set victories while conceding just one game in each set.

At No. 6 singles, Mach delivered the most competitive match of the day, bouncing back after dropping the second set to win a third-set super tiebreaker, 10–5, and secure Marywood's fifth singles point.

Neumann (2-5, 0-2 AEC) earned its lone point at the top of the lineup, where Alura Troilo defeated Kylie Kilgore in straight sets, 7–5, 6–0.

Marywood resumes conference play on Thursday, Apr. 2 when they head to Pratt Institute.
